A complete reimagining of an existing waterfront residence in Pender Harbour, this home was transformed into a sophisticated coastal retreat where striking architectural forms, expansive walls of glass, and refined natural materials create an atmosphere of effortless elegance and an extraordinary connection to the water.

Perched above the spectacular waters of Pender Harbour, The Peninsula is a testament to the transformative potential of thoughtful renovation. Originally an outdated, compartmentalized home, the residence has been entirely reconsidered to embrace its remarkable setting. Despite the constraints of a steep and challenging site, the design maintains the original footprint while fundamentally redefining the home's character, functionality, and relationship with the surrounding landscape.

The transformation is anchored by a dramatic sloping roofline, carefully designed to maintain the original building height while introducing a greater sense of volume within. Along the waterfront elevation, floor-to-ceiling glazing opens the interiors to uninterrupted harbour views, drawing daylight deep into the living spaces. Clear hemlock ceilings and exposed post-and-beam detailing celebrate the warmth and character of natural timber, while white oak millwork, including a sculptural slatted staircase feature, introduces texture, rhythm, and continuity throughout the home.

The interior layout has been completely reconfigured to create a more intuitive flow, balancing refined aesthetics with everyday practicality. A redesigned kitchen incorporates integrated entertaining features, while a new connection to the enclosed garage improves accessibility and convenience. Beyond the interior, expanded decks and a generous covered patio provide sheltered outdoor living spaces, allowing the home to be enjoyed throughout the seasons and strengthening its relationship with the coastal environment.

What distinguishes The Peninsula is its ability to achieve a remarkable transformation within the limitations of an existing structure. Every intervention was considered in relation to the views, the site, and the experience of living within it. The result is a residence that feels generous in scale yet intimate in atmosphere, where contemporary design and the natural beauty of the waterfront come together in a distinctly West Coast expression of luxury.
